WHAT CAN (DO) YOU EXPECT?

Hailing from China, my journey into the world of cinema began with a childhood enveloped in the magic of movies. From the captivating allure of Hollywood blockbusters to the profound narratives of foreign arthouse films, my early years were marked by an unwavering fascination with cinematic storytelling. It was during my high school years that this passion crystalized into a definitive career aspiration: to become an integral part of the filmmaking process. Upon completing my secondary education, I pursued formal training in film at Emerson College. This experience was transformative, deepening my expertise in various facets of filmmaking including screenwriting, directing, cinematography, and editing. My academic journey was not merely about skill acquisition; it was an odyssey that allowed me to explore the synergy between the technical intricacies of visual storytelling and the emotive power of artistic expression. Since embarking on my professional path, I have devoted myself to the art of filmmaking. My portfolio includes several short films where I have embraced the roles of writer, director, and producer. My creative focus often gravitates towards narratives rich in dystopian themes, crime, horror, and an array of other genres, reflecting a diverse storytelling palette. Filmmaking, for me, transcends the realms of occupation or pastime. It is a vocation that offers a platform to engage audiences on a profound level, stimulating thought and driving societal transformation. I am a firm believer in the transcendent power of cinema — its ability to bridge linguistic, cultural, and temporal divides, fostering a sense of universal connectivity. Beyond the professional sphere, my personal interests align closely with my career. I indulge in watching an eclectic mix of films, delving into film theory literature, and participating in industry screenings and filmmaker Q&A sessions. Collaborating with artists from various disciplines, including music, dance, and visual arts, is another passion of mine. These collaborations are opportunities to challenge conventional artistic boundaries and forge innovative, interdisciplinary creations. As I look to the future, my excitement is anchored in the exploration of filmmaking's boundless potential. I am committed to storytelling that ventures into uncharted territories, dismantles existing barriers, and contributes to a more inclusive and diverse film industry. I hold a conviction that filmmaking is not merely a technical craft but an art form that demands a harmonious blend of technical proficiency and creative vision for true mastery.
